Simon Harris ~ Food Pyramid
On November 6th, we began our well being week with Minister of Health, Simon Harris who came into school. I felt fortunate to hear what he had to say as he took time out of his busy schedule. Simon Harris started with the the importance of well being and the effects of it on our lives. He then told us the importance of diet on well being and how eating the correct food can help well being. He then moved on to the new and improved food pyramid which him and his team discovered. He told us that these changes were needed and that the old food pyramid was outdated. As seen in the diagram, carbohydrates changed from the bottom (5-7 servings) to the fifth section (3-5 servings). Simon Harris made these changed as Health Experts believe we are missing these essential vitamins and minerals from fruit and vegetables. I felt this talk was very interesting and useful for daily life.
