difference day - st.john of gods
On the 3rd of May, a few of my classmates and I did a difference day in Cintra, St John of Gods Nursery which has set up shop selling plants, artwork and baked goods. We arrived there at eight o'clock to prepare for the busy day ahead. We began by moving all the covers for the fresh soil, cleaning all the rubbish near by and moving away any obstacles in our way. By 10 o'clock the center was ready and over 200 employees from Jameson Distillery and Irish Distillers came in to help. They had organised certain people into certain groups and had everybody in roles that fitted them. Each group had an individual task that had to be complete by 3 o'clock. The TY team had been placed in building a path and placing grass over. Firstly we began by removing any debris from the soil before hand. After that we began by evening the soil out and had our grass rolls ready to be placed. We then left room for the paths to be built. Firstly we placed our 804 gravel that we placed. We then used a whacker to compact it together. Then we got Ballylusk dust to place on top. We then separated the grass and path with planks of wood that we screwed in together. After seeing the whole garden center I was blown away as what we had accomplished. We really made a difference and helped the community. I am looking forward for the next one in St Catherine's School and really pleased with all the work we did.
